NPH is a disease caused by a buildup of pressure by fluid that surrounds the brain; symptoms are problems with gait, incontinence, and mild dementia. The disease is commonly misdiagnosed as Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s. However, if diagnosed early, the symptoms can be reversed.

The book discusses a newly FDA approved procedure to treat keratoconus, a condition that affects vision when the cornea becomes misshaped. The third edition of Lung Cancer—From Diagnosis to Treatment rolls off the press this Fall. Among the updates, is information on newer forms of treatment, including targeted therapy and immunotherapy. The author, Walter Scott, M.D., is a thoracic surgeon. He is chief of the Division of Thoracic and Esophageal Surgery at Abington Jefferson Hospital and a member of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, in Philadelphia.

New book on cornea crosslinking is coming this fall. The book, Cornea Cross-Linking—A Patient’s Guide to Treatment, covers a newly-approved FDA procedure to treatment a condition of the cornea that causes it to thin and lose its natural shape. These changes cause vision problems. The author is ophthalmologist Lawrence M. Hopp, MD, of Beverly Hills, California.

Japanese Publisher Buys Rights
The Japanese publisher, Seiwa Shoten, Co., has purchased the rights to the Addicus Books title, Overcoming Prescription Drugs Addiction, by Rod Colvin. The Japanese edition is scheduled for release in 2018. The subrights sale was handled by the Japan Uni Agency, Inc., in Japan and the Susan Schulman Agency in New York City.

Third Edition of Parkinson’s Book Going to Press
The third edition of Understanding Parkinson’s Disease is heading to press. The new edition includes updates on recently developed diagnostic procedures as well as new medications used to treat the disease. “I am pleased to report that we have received a bulk order from a large health care corporation,” said Rod Colvin, Publisher at Addicus Books. “The corporation will use the book to support its roll out of a product.
