Roberta “Bobbie” Batley, was born and raised in Farmington, New Mexico, and grew up in a family business. Bobbie has practiced family law for almost twenty years and is a New Mexico board-recognized specialist in divorce and family law. Bobbie represents clients in a variety of family law cases, often involving complex matrimonial and property division issues including business valuation, professional goodwill, and multi-state and multi-layered business structures. In addition, she handles prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, child-custody, and child-support cases.
Bobbie feels that her greatest strength is guiding her clients through one of the most difficult times in their lives to reach a better emotional and financial platform postdivorce. She wants her clients to understand the options available to them to address their family law matter in and out of the court system. Bobbie is a skilled trial lawyer and has tried cases of all levels in courts throughout New Mexico. She also is aware that litigation may not always be the best option for resolving a family law case. Bobbie offers advanced collaborative techniques and interest-based negotiation skills to help her clients address their family law matters without court involvement if that is their goal. Further, Bobbie serves for both the court and her colleagues as a settlement facilitator in family law matters.
Bobbie is the current secretary of the American Bar Association Family Law Section, representing family law attorneys across the country. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. In 2012, she was named by Best Lawyers in America as the New Mexico Family Law Lawyer of the Year and has been listed in that publication since 2006. She has been named as a Southwest Super Lawyer since 2010, and is also recognized by Martindale-Hubbell as a “pre-eminent woman lawyer.” In addition, Bobbie serves on the advisory board of the Honoring Families Initiative of the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System (IAALS). IAALS is dedicated to facilitating continuous improvement and advancing excellence in the American legal system.
In New Mexico, Bobbie remains an active member of the New Mexico Family Law Section of the State Bar, the New Mexico Collaborative Practice Group, and the Albuquerque Collaborative Practice Group. She is also a member of the Future Fund of the Albuquerque Community Foundation and a Leadership New Mexico Connect Program Graduate. Bobbie can be reached at www.lgtfamilylaw.com.
