Douglas G. Andrews, Esq., is an attorney in private practice with the law firm of Andrews & Sanders in Savannah, Georgia, and admitted to practice in all the courts of Georgia, including the Supreme Court of Georgia, the federal courts, including the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He began his college studies at Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia, and completed a bachelor of science, magna cum laude, from Oklahoma College of Liberals Arts. Andrews then earned his Juris Doctor from Emory University’s Lamar School of Law, Atlanta, Georgia.
After serving in the United States Army for twenty-two years, he retired as a lieutenant colonel. His military assignments included a tour of duty in the Vietnam War as an artillery battery commander assigned to the 199th Light Infantry Brigade, and he later served with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, where he earned jumpmaster status and senior parachutist wings. After serving in the Pentagon with the Office of the Judge Advocate General as a federal litigation attorney, and as staff judge advocate (senior legal counsel) for the commanding general of the Army CID Command, Andrews returned to Georgia for his terminal assignment as the general court-martial judge at Hunter Army Airfield & Ft. Stewart, Georgia. Prior to opening his private practice in 1991, he was the chief assistant for state court in the office of the district attorney for Chatham County, Georgia.
Andrews is an associate municipal court judge and is active in several veterans organizations, now serving as chairman of the Veterans Council of Chatham County, Inc. He is known for teaching lawyers, judges, and police officers in the classroom, and prosecutors in the courtroom.
Andrews has been married to Pam since 1969, when he met her while both were working at the Pirates House in Savannah. They raised three children and are now enjoying five grandchildren and one red-headed great granddaughter, who is the apple of everyone’s eye.
