Arjan Hura, M.D., is a fellowship-trained cataract, refractive, and anterior segment surgeon at the Maloney Shamie Vision Institute in Los Angeles. Dr. Hura graduated from The Ohio State University with a dual-degree and obtained his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine where he also received a Master of Science Degree in Physiology.
Dr. Hura previously practiced at the Cleveland Eye Clinic and Clear Choice Custom LASIK Center where he performed advanced cataract surgery, LASIK, PRK and SMILE, implantable contact lenses (ICL), corneal cross-linking, and MIGS surgery. He was a sub-investigator for ten FDA clinical studies and was the youngest surgeon in Ohio certified to perform EVO Visian ICL. Dr. Hura has written more then thirty publications including professional journals, abstracts, textbook chapters, and articles. He is a frequent speaker and moderator for national ophthalmology meetings and has given more than forty presentations.
At the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Hura received a National Eye Institute grant and served as Chief Resident. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, was the recipient of the Graduate Medical Trainee Award of Excellence, the ASCRS 2021 Resident Excellence Award, and was awarded the 2021 International Resident Leadership Award by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Hura was also awarded the Alan and Karen Zalta Research Award by the University of Cincinnati for his research work.
Dr. Hura is committed to patient advocacy and safety, mentoring students, and innovative clinical research. He is passionate about providing the highest possible medical and surgical vision care to his patients.
In his free time, Dr. Hura enjoys staying physically active. He has practiced Shotokan karate since the age of seven. He is an avid mixed martial arts fan and enjoys podcasting in his free time. He is the host of the Cell and Flare podcast, which focuses on sharing personal stories from eye doctors and others in the eye care field.
