Jordan Deschamps-Braly, M.D., is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where he received his medical degree in 2005. As an undergraduate, he was a Phi Beta Kappa honors scholar. Dr. Deschamps-Braly completed his five-year surgery and plastic surgery residency in 2010. He held the position of chief resident from 2009 to 2010.
In 2010, Dr. Deschamps-Braly was accepted as a fellow in craniofacial surgery at Children’s Hospital, Wisconsin, studying under Dr. Arlen Denny. Dr. Denny, like Dr. Ousterhout, was one of the very few Americans who traveled to Paris to study the techniques of craniofacial surgery under Dr. Paul Tessier.
Upon completing his craniofacial fellowship at Children’s Hospital in Wisconsin, Dr. Deschamps-Braly, following the lead of Drs. Ousterhout and Denny, traveled to Paris where he pursued a fellowship in craniofacial and aesthetic facial plastic surgery under Dr. Daniel Marchac, a pioneer among surgeons in the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery.
In Paris, Dr. Deschamps-Braly performed pediatric craniofacial surgery at l’hopital Necker-Enfants Malades, the oldest children’s hospital in the world. He also per-formed extensive aesthetic facial plastic surgery on women and men who traveled from all over the world seeking aesthetic facial surgery from Dr. Marchac’s practice.
After completing his fellowship with Dr. Marchac, Dr. Deschamps-Braly traveled to Switzerland for a fellowship in orthognathic surgery at Dr. Obwegeser’s clinic in Zurich. Dr. Obwegeser was the foremost pioneer in orthognathic (jawbone) surgery in the 1960s. He developed most of the surgical techniques now used for adjusting the upper and lower jaw structures. Those same techniques are now currently utilized in facial feminization surgery.
Dr. Deschamps-Braly is a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery. He holds full staff privileges at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco. Dr. Deschamps-Braly has performed complex and demanding surgeries at locations in three different continents. He has coauthored and presented a number of major scientific papers, both nationally and internationally.
After several years searching for the right surgeon to be his successor, Dr. Ousterhout asked Dr. Deschamps-Braly to assume and continue his legendary practice in facial feminization surgery in June 2014. Dr. Deschamps-Braly is the only surgeon who has ever been trained in facial feminization surgery by Dr. Ousterhout.
