Rolls off the Press
Author is Pioneer in the Field
Transgendered women, wishing to achieve more feminine facial
features, now have a new resource available to them. Addicus Books has just
released Facial Feminization Surgery—A
Guide for the Transgendered Woman, the first such book written for
consumers.
The author, Douglas K. Ousterhout, M.D., of San Francisco, is
the plastic surgeon who pioneered these surgical procedures, having performed
his first facial feminization surgery (FFS) procedure in 1983. Since then, he
has performed nearly 7,000 FFS procedures. "My most memorable experiences
with this community have been helping individuals through the transition to a
new gender. What I do—giving
people a more feminine face—can
alter lives. I have seen the changes in appearance and self-esteem in my
patients.
The book, which contains more than two hundred 4-color patient
photos and illustrations, is available from AddicusBooks.com.
